"The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking."

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

A.A. PREAMBLEΒ©

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

The Responsibility Declaration πŸ™

"I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that: I am responsible. This powerful statement was adopted at the 1965 A.A. International Convention in Toronto, ON, Canada. It serves as a reminder of our personal commitment to carrying the message. "

This statement reminds us that our personal recovery is tied to our willingness to help others. It is in taking responsibility that real freedom and the enduring satisfactions of life are found.
